Halloween in the Jolly
Spooky things where happening in the Jolly Sailor on Halloween night. Regulars dessed up as only Jolly Regulars can and made the night very scary. We also celebrated Holly's Birthday.
August Bank Holiday Fun
Sunday Night Back 2 Skool Party
Great night had by all the school children and head masters, or rather the regulars dressing up in their old school uniforms. Party went on to the small hours which was tough for some of the lads, who where playing in the football tournament.
Monday Dean Bozier Football Tournament
Bank Holiday Monday saw 32 teams decend on Harvestors football fields for a 6 aside tournament, the weather stayed good and the football and beer flowed.
Jolly Football Match and Horse Race Night
We invited a team from your landlords home town (Frodsham, Cheshire) to play our local football team (The Phoenix Club) in a pre season friendly.
Prior to the match a minutes silence was repectfully observed in honour of Dean Bozier who sadly past away recently. Dean was chairman of The Phoenix Club for several years and both played and helped run the club.
The game was won 5 - 3 by the visiting side, and afterwards everyone retired to the Jolly Sailor for a Horse Race Night to help raise funds for the club.
A great evening was had by all and over £400 was raised.
Jolly Sailor Annual Cricket Tournament
Players from Jolly Sailor, Phoenix Football Club and London Road Jnr Football Club annually play a round robin 20/20 cricket tournament.
This was the 3rd year we had run this tournament and in previous years Phoenix & London Road have enjoyed the spoils.
Due to personnel reasons London Road where not able to field a full team and the weather also hampered play.
However a great day was had by all with the Jolly Sailor taking the day with 2 very closely fought games. Winning the first game with only 1 ball to spare and the 2nd by 20 runs. There were some great performances from both teams and everyone is looking forward to next year aleady.
A special mention must also go to Michael Dean who took the winning catch and even had the audacity to have Hero written on his shoes!!!
Jason 40th Birthday/Coming Out Party in Madrid
A bunch of regulars and your landlord set off for a weekend in Madrid to Celebrate Jason's 40th Birthday.
Jason ashores us that he did not no it was Gay Pride week but we are holding court on that.
However in proper Jolly Sailor Fashion we embrassed the situation and had a great all round trip. Over 1 million people take to the street of Madrid and party the night away, has to be seen to be believed.
If you're ever in Madrid you must go to a little Tapas bar called La Fragua De Vulcano www.fraguadevulcano.com. It is hard to find but well worth it.
Cheryl Boziers Birthday Party
The Jolly Sailor is a great place to hold your private parties and one of our regulars Dean Bozier held a bithday party for his wife cheryl.
A great night was had by all as you can see from the pictures. Dean has not been well of late and all our best wishes go to him - but a great party mate.
Bank Holiday Fun
The first bank holiday in May went off with loads of fun at the Jolly.
Those with stamina stayed up throughout the night on Saturday to watch Ricky Hatton, however, unfortunately the wait was short lived as the fight only lasted 2 rounds, but we all had fun.
On the Sunday our football teams (Phoenix Football Club) played a game amongst themselves at Clarence Park followed by their end of season presentation party at Bar Mezi.
In the evening we held a Carribean night with summer music, Barbeque and a limbo dancing competion.
I think most of us slept on Monday.....
St Georges Day Celebrations
The Jolly Sailor celebrated St Georges Day in its usual style, bunting out, beer flowing (Bombadier at only £2.30 a pint to mark the 23rd).
The golf society had also held its annual St Georges Day Cup at Batchwood. Great day was had and Geoff Kirby Senior rode away with the cup.
The Jolly believe's more should be done for St George Day and next year we will be having a right 'Royal Knees Up'.
Skiing in St Anton, Austria
Regulars and friends of the Jolly Sailor have just returned from their annual ski trip. This year we all went to the lively ski resort of St Anton in Austria. All had great week but definite high lights was Australia night in the Crazy Kangaroo, Mexican Day on the Tuesday, Après ski every night.
Only major casualty was Jeremy who was taken off the slopes by some woman. Sounds nice but in fact she managed to break his collar bone and he had to endure a painful ride down in a helicopter.
Next years ski trip is already in the planning (see what’s on) so all welcome, word of warning if Geoff comes again hang on to your skis.

The Jolly 3rd Birthday Party & The 2009 T-Shirts
The Jolly Sailor's 3rd birthday party took place on Saturday 10th January, which coincided nicely with Paul's birthday and to mark the occasion limited edition Jolly Sailor 2009 tshirts were handed out.
The evening quickly saw the pub turn into a sea of red as the regulars proudly put on their new Jolly t-shirts. If you're one of the lucky owners, don't forget to take it on holiday with you and send us snaps of the Jolly t-shirt from the top of Blackpool tower, the Sydney Harbour Bridge or maybe behind bars at Alcatraz!
The night started off at a steady pace but soon picked up by the early hours of Sunday morning with dancing on the tables (some of them not so fully clothed - say no more...). The party finally subsided as dawn started to rise.
We don't know how we can beat that next year but we surely try!
New Year Through the Ages
The Jolly Sailor would like to wish a very Happy New Year to all it's customers. New Year's Eve was celebrated in typical Jolly fashion - with regulars wearing fancy dress!
A good night was had by all with the fun and games continuing until the sun came up!!
Xmas at the Jolly
A great festive time was had by all at the Jolly Sailor and despite the 'credit crunch', customers enjoyed their Christmas with friends and neighbours at the Jolly. Highlights included the Phoenix karaoke night, numerous regulars enjoying Xmas lunch in the Jolly and customers turning into stars on Christmas day evening by becoming 'Guitar Star Heros'.
